This free standing traditional home by Bondi Beach is receiving a full renovation and extension to suit our client’s family of growing teenagers. With the DA ready to be submitted, we have completely reconfigured the rear of the house, perfect for a family friendly and beachside lifestyle. The now open plan living, dining, and kitchen area connects seamlessly onto the landscaped yard complete with bench seats, BBQ areas and a proposed plunge pool perfect for entertaining and relaxing. The newly proposed first floor offers a parents retreat complete with study and Bondi’s district views. The front of the property is also to be completely reinvigorated with the addition of street level off street parking, landscaping and storage. The application of a contemporary Australian aesthetic to the extension will work to compliment the houses traditional features and it’s beachside location.

The owners of this free standing traditional home had completed some minor updates to the front rooms but had been longing to tackle a much larger project for some time. The DA approved design focuses on providing more usable spaces for the young family of four, including a new kitchen, bathroom and study space which all link to an outdoor covered deck and landscaped yard including their long awaited pool.  Along with a rear extension, the clients were looking to renovate their existing double garage but adding a bedroom studio above it which looks over the yard and pool.  The renovations external aesthetic celebrates a Palm Springs resort with feature timber windows and doors, timber cladding, geometric patterned finishes and lush landscaping.   With the DA now approved we are working on the internal detailing and final selections of finishes and fixtures.

With extra space an absolute priority for our client’s young family, a complete reconfiguration of the ground floor and rear yard has been planned around the clients needs.  Utilising the unused garage has allowed for a new study space, guest bedroom and shared ensuite/powder room. Relocation of the laundry, kitchen, living and dining has created a more harmonious flow to the house and an open planned living area which opens onto the rear yard – perfect for the kids play area and their entertaining lifestyle.  A fresh concept and scheme will be achieved along with some clever design features and functional detailing for the internal spaces.  Currently awaiting DA approval with local council, the owners are poised to be enjoying living in their new home in early 2017.

Thinking outside of the box was required to maximise the potential floor space of this Edgecliff terrace. We quickly developed a sketch concept to open up the centre of the space with a minor extension and move the kitchen in to a more prominent position, exceeding the clients expectations of replacing their existing kitchen like for like.  We submitted our DA in keeping with Woollahra Councils guidelines and managed the heritage portion of the project as Paddington is synonymous with character buildings and ensuring any new additions be sympathetic to existing features.  The next exciting process will be selection of finishes, windows selections and designing the kitchen and other joinery elements to proceed to tender.  With a growing family, the client is excited to get the project under way later in the year.
