BAREFOOT BAY VILLA

It is not often a design team has free reign on a project - the flexibility to design and create whatever they desire, using their favourite suppliers and products. It is even rarer for a designer to share all their secrets, where they sourced all the materials, finishes and furnishings, often something kept elusively between the client and the designer. The Designory has turned this all on its head in their latest projects for boutique holiday accommodation business Barefoot Escapes.

After 8 years of working on client projects and her own renovations, The Designory’s director Melissa Bonney wanted to create a home with the makers, suppliers and brands she loved and share everything with her followers and fans who have helped build the success of her business.
The second in the Barefoot Bay series, with the renovated Cottage launching last year, this new build is the pinnacle of luxury. Located in beautiful Byron Bay this home has been designed for the discerning traveller who seeks true relaxation with everything at their fingertips. It is also a great showcase home for anyone contemplating a renovation, with products from over 60 Australian businesses and brands; it is the ultimate shoppable home. All the pieces you find within the home are shoppable via The Designory’s website which connects you with all of the details, specifications and businesses involved - from the windows to rugs!.

After years of travelling with her family and staying in hotels and Airbnb’s Melissa wanted these houses to go well beyond the standard holiday home formula.
Ultimately they are a reflection of great design, utilising the expertise of each business involved. What is most striking in this home is the natural connection between the inside and out, the perfect example of the design mantra underpinning The Designory; designing from the inside out.

The home focuses on Australian coastal materiality and that touch of quintessential Byron effervescence. With strong contemporary finishes, luxe design elements and natural materials, the inspiration for the Bay Villa was drawn from the raw textures and tones of our breathtaking coastline – bush greens, rust, sandstone, sea foam, warm greys and sandy whites. The home features 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, making it a perfect retreat for a large groups of families and friends.
The home is designed specifically for reconnecting and coming together with a number of living zones and the open plan kitchen, dining and living area opening to a beautiful alfresco space with a glistening pool, covered outdoor dining and lounging area and BBQ space. Rest and rejuvenation is easy to achieve with three private bedroom suites each decorated with their own individual style and flair. The kids room upstairs features a playful netting space sure to keep the kids wowed and entertained, and a tranquil guest room which overlooks the nature reserve across the road. The newly completed Barefoot Bay Villa is now available to book via our accommodation site and Airbnb alongside its sister property, The Barefoot Bay Cottage.
