A fresh and contemporary interior was the brief for this coastal home designed by Mark Shapiro Architects near the cliffs of Clovelly beach. The client had already engaged the services of Mark Shapiro Architects to design this home and came to The Designory to consult on the finishes selections and decorating to bring the home to life and give them a true wow factor that celebrated the architecture. We started with a strong monochromatic palette and refined materials such as timber, marble and concrete, and interjected it with pops of colour and luxury textures of leather and velvet. A key consideration for the project was ensuring that the living spaces felt comfortable for the young family but also sophisticated and timeless. Touches of timber, marble and natural linens were used to ground the interior and add warmth and interest, and unique artworks allowed the personality of the clients to come to the fore. Creating tranquil spaces for the bedrooms was also a focus, with the same scheme and techniques of layering of texture and tone utilised to create personalised spaces for both adults and children. The bathrooms are the true hero’s of this home with exquisite tactile finishes, unique tiles, and stunning tapware and lighting making these spaces like artwork in their own right.
