Crossing Threads is the collaborative practice of Lauren and Kass Hernandez, Australian-born sisters of Filipino heritage based in Sydney. Their handwoven textile artworks include tapestries, wall hangings, soft sculptures and framed textile pieces. Their practice explores memory, belonging, identity, place and culture, often using materials such as Australian Merino wool, plant-based fibres, upcycled fabrics and foraged elements.

In interiors, textile art does something paintings cannot always do: it softens the architecture. A Crossing Threads piece brings warmth, tactility and dimension to a room. It works beautifully above a bed, in an entryway, beside a dining setting or anywhere a wall needs depth rather than another flat surface.
