Itinerary

Below is an example of what your week in Bali will look like. Activities and supplier visits may vary slightly depending on the availability of our artisans and partners.

  • Make your way from Bali’s Denpasar Airport to a charming traditional Joglo café at 10:00am, where your retreat begins.

We’ll gather here for a relaxed welcome morning tea while you meet your hosts and fellow guests. After a brief intro, we’ll begin visiting our first supplier locations. Our professional drivers will meet you here, take your bags directly to the villa, and organise a stop at a trusted money exchange before we begin our first sourcing adventure.

    Mid-afternoon:
We return to the villa for check-in, unpacking, a refreshing swim, and some downtime.

    Late afternoon:
At around 4:30–5:00pm, we head out for an oceanside drink to watch the sunset — a gentle, beautiful way to ease into the week.

    Evening:
Dinner together at one of Bali’s local favourites.

  • Mornings

Enjoy a delicious in-house breakfast each morning at the villa.
Every day begins with a Q+A design session with Mel, where you can ask questions, explore ideas, or get guidance for the day ahead.

After breakfast, we depart for our curated supplier visits — travelling through Bali’s backstreets, artisan hubs, showrooms, workshops, and hidden sourcing gems.

Examples of What We May Visit

(Varies depending on your chosen retreat)

    • Tableware workshops

    • Stone furniture and decor artisans — baths, sinks, bowls, plinths, tables

    • Antique furniture warehouses

    • Large-scale pottery suppliers

    • Basket weavers and rattan suppliers

    • Lighting stores and makers

    • Art studios, galleries & acclaimed photographers

    • Bali’s best home décor stores (retail & wholesale)

    • Wallpaper printers — bring your own images on USB and have them printed in Bali

    Lunch

Each day we pause for a relaxed lunch — often overlooking rice paddies, at a beautiful local warung, or a nearby café.

    Afternoons (2:30pm onward)

Bali is warm and humid, so we return to the villa mid-afternoon for downtime. Guests may:

    • Relax by the pool or unwind on the villa grounds

    • Opt for an afternoon massage or treatment at one of Bali’s most luxurious spas

    • Join a Design Workshop with Mel (optional; topics announced at breakfast)

    • Book a 1-hour Design Intensive with Mel to discuss your home, renovation plan, or sourcing needs

    Evenings

Dinner each night is at one of Bali’s wonderful local restaurants. We depart the villa around 6:45pm.

One special evening, we host an in-villa dinner prepared by local chefs, paired with a private shopping experience featuring unique jewellery and clothing.

  • Wake at your leisure and enjoy a slow morning.

    Checkout is at 10:00am.
Our drivers will transport you to the airport or your next hotel.

If you're departing later in the day, we can securely store your luggage — giving you time for a final shop, massage, or visit to a beach club before your flight.

The remaining balance is payable in instalments:

    • Personal shopping, freight, and supplier orders

    • Optional 1:1 sessions and private design intensives with Mel

    • Optional accommodation before/after the retreat

Each evening, you will receive the following days itinerary on our retreat WhatsApp group.

  • Breakfast is included each morning at the villa or a local cafe.
Guests are responsible for payment for all lunches and dinners.

Sally will curate a selection of her favourite local cafés and restaurants, giving you the chance to experience Bali’s incredible food culture.

    We recommend allowing:
    AUD $75–$100 per day
(to cover the eco-resort day pass, lunches, and dinners).

  • Shopping is a major part of the retreat, and many guests return home with beautiful pieces for their home.

    We recommend:

✔ Adding 40kg of extra luggage allowance for your return flight

    For larger or heavier purchases:

    • Sally’s trusted local freight agents can assist with packing and international shipping.

    • If you plan to place significant orders, we recommend adding 1–2 days at the end of your trip to revisit favourite suppliers and finalise arrangements.

    • If you’d like additional assistance from either Sally or Mel for the final orders, both are available for assistance and consulting after each retreat.  Please enquire early to secure a time slot.

    • Guests are responsible for flights into Denpasar (DPS).

    • You will need to make your own way to the Day One meeting point (Joglo café) for the 11am start.

    • Travel insurance is mandatory for all guests.

We will assist with currency exchange once everyone has arrived on Day One.

  • Late August to early September is one of Bali’s most beautiful times of year:

    • Warm, sunny days

    • Lower rainfall

    • Humidity is moderate to high

    • Ideal for sourcing, swimming, exploring and sunsets

    Expect daily temperatures of 26–31°C.

  • Mosquitoes

Bali is tropical, so mosquitoes are common.
    We recommend:

    • Light, long-sleeve clothing at dusk

    • Good insect repellent (DEET or picaridin)

    • A small after-bite cream

    Bali Belly

We take every precaution with food stops, but Bali Belly can happen.
    We recommend packing:

    • Hydralytes

    • A gentle probiotic

    • Imodium

    • Hand sanitiser

    Hydration

The climate is warm and humid — we encourage guests to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

    Insurance

Please ensure your travel insurance covers:

    • Medical, illness and hospital visits

    • Lost/stolen property

    • Flight delays or cancellations

    • Shopping and freight (if applicable)

  • Most places accept card, but cash is essential for:

    • Smaller suppliers

    • Markets

    • Taxis or tips

    • Small cafés

We will take the group to a trusted money exchange on Day One.

ATM machines are widely available, but card fees vary.

    • Light, breathable clothing

    • Comfortable walking shoes

    • Swimwear

    • Sunhat + sunglasses

    • Light jacket for cooler nights

    • Insect repellent

    • Reusable water bottle

    • Travel adaptor (Indonesia uses Type C & F plugs)

    • USB or drive (for wallpaper printing if desired)

    • Copies of your passport & insurance documents

    • Collect images of your home

    • Bring floorplans including dimensions if you have them.

    • Collect relevant measurements.  Think beyond just room measurements, measure things like how tall, wide and deep is the space on your bookshelf? How much space is between the top of your bedhead and the cornice? Knowing these dimensions will help you when making buying decisions, knowing the item you love will fit in the space you envisage it for.

    • Bring small samples of existing finishes in your home if relevant - paint chips, carpet samples etc.
